I had the pleasure of photographing Susy Shearer and her beautiful family last month. Susy is also a photographer (we've shot many weddings together and I just love her!) She expressed how she's always the photographer and doesn't get to be in a lot of her family photos - which I can totally relate to! So, we headed to the Johnny Carson Park in Burbank. It was a beautiful day and I couldn't have asked for better lighting. What's funny is that her husband Phil is a video/lighting technician so it was great bouncing ideas off them. And their kids are gorgeous and can sing! Talk about a creative and talented family!

Heather and Jordan were married at the Los Robles Greens Golf Course in Thousand Oaks. Claire Renee invited me to shoot with her and I was super excited because it's been a while since we worked together. I also met Claire's fabulous assistant Vanessa Adams and we all had a great time capturing all the moments of their special day. Heather and Jordan are such a fun couple and you could see their personalities come through in the details of their wedding.

I was invited to shoot Erin and Toby's Wedding with the lovely Susy Shearer. I met Susy through our mutual friend Santiago and we immediately clicked. Now after working with her, I am super excited to have her 2nd shoot with me in May.

Erin and Toby had a fabulous and unique wedding at Ramsey's at the Club {a beautiful indoor venue} which was a smart move on their part because it rained and actually snowed that day {in LA!}. Well, everything about their wedding was unique from the crazy weather to their song choices for their first dances. Toby chose the theme song to Disney's Electrical Parade for the mother-son dance which was so cute! Congratulations Erin and Toby!

Portraits :: Reagan + Reachel {Santa Clarita, CA}

I met Summer {mommy to Reagan and Reachel} when I worked at Zany Brainy years ago. It's still hard for me to believe that my friend Summer is all grown up and married with two kids :) Well, we had been talking about taking photos of her girls for the past year and now that Reagan was old enough, we thought it was the perfect time. We met up at Towsley Canyon in Santa Clarita {a great place to shoot} and had a blast. The girls were so well behaved despite the cold and they gave me a full hour of great energy and smiles. I was really impressed with how long they lasted. Here are some of my favorite shots of the day.

I was invited to shoot alongside Santiago Valencia for Rena and Louis' wedding. They had a beautiful Catholic ceremony and then we headed to The Grand in Long Beach for the reception. Rena and Louis also have two adorable boys who tested their patience throughout the day {it can be such a long day for little ones}, but the happy couple took everything in stride. They were all smiles which made our jobs so easy. Congratulations Rena & Louis!

This was a very special wedding for me because I went to Elementary School & Jr. High School with Jacob. We lost touch over the years but reconnected via facebook and he saw that I was a wedding photographer. We met up and he introduced me to Ashley {who is just lovely} and they asked me to be their wedding photographer. I was thrilled because Jacob and I were 11 years old when we met and now he's all grown up and getting married! I'm so happy for you two :)

They asked me to photograph several of the Los Angeles businesses they feature in their magazine and it turned out to be an awesome experience. I met so many wonderful business owners and they've said nothing but good things about neighbor2neighbor and Mark & Mara {the editors}.

Portraits :: Santiago Valencia {Downtown Los Angeles}

My good friend Santiago Valencia asked me to take some new portraits of him for 2011. Santiago is also a photographer {he does Wedding & Boudoir Photography} so it was fun for me to direct him and bounce ideas off each other.

We thought Downtown Los Angeles would be a great place for cool backdrops and scenery so we started at the Los Angeles Public Library and ended up walking to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It was a Sunday, so there weren't a lot of people or cars which made me appreciate the city's landscape so much more. It makes me want to come back every Sunday and just hang out and walk the city. Here are some of my favorites of the day.

I had the pleasure of shooting alongside Kate Connolly {i.e. Kate the Great :} for Marisa and Mark's Wedding. Marisa, Mark and their wedding party were so much fun to photograph! By the end of the night, it felt like I was hanging out with a bunch of my friends. I also met Michelle Garcia {one of Marisa's bridesmaids} who is a fellow photographer. We exchanged business cards and ended up working together on a couple of weddings in 2010 {those blog posts to come soon!}

I was invited to shoot Lilly and Matthew's wedding by my good friend Santiago Valencia. The ceremony was held at the San Gabriel Mission and their reception was held at a restaurant in Chinatown. Brittany Keene and Marina Dzessa-Gilham {love those girls} were also invited to photograph the wedding and we had a great time. And I love how they incorporated Lilly's heritage into their wedding reception. Lovely!

Engagement Session :: Marta + Larry

This was a very special engagement session for me because Marta and Larry are friends of mine. I'm also photographing their wedding in May {which I'm super thrilled about}!

Well, we talked about shooting at the beach {Larry's a surfer ;} and we thought the Santa Monica Pier would be perfect. It was a little overcast and chilly that day, but it made for some beautiful light. There were also a bunch of people at the pier and I thought that might be challenging but they were not phased one bit. Marta was like "I've just accepted the fact that people will be staring so we're just going to pretend like they're not there." And that's why I love them. They were willing to do anything to get the shot, which makes my job so easy and fun {thank you guys}!

Ferris wheel fun! I swear we went around like 20 times, way more than we paid for!

There was actually a private party going on in here, but Larry used his charm to get us in for a couple quick photos!

Yelp! Prom Night

My friend and colleague Santiago Valencia does the event photography for Yelp LA and usually invites me to shoot with him. It's always a fun time. Katie Burbank and her team do an amazing job organizing all the different vendors, locations, raffles and fun activities for her VIP Yelpers. There's always a different theme and this time it was Prom Night at the Egyptian Theatre. Here are some of my favorites of the night!

Disneyland!

My pass to Disneyland has officially expired...boo! But, I went a lot last year so I can't complain :)

On my final D-day excursion, my friend Santiago & I decided to bring our cameras. When we got there, I realized that my battery was almost dead and I left my extra one at home! I was so upset, but decided to bring my camera anyway to see how long it would last. Lucky for me it lasted all day until late afternoon. I was so impressed. {thank you Nikon}

Megan and Shawn's wedding ceremony & reception was at the Newland House Museum in Huntington Beach. Brittany Keene was the principal photographer while Alissa Hunsaker and I assisted her with the 2nd photography. The Newland House Museum was originally a farmhouse built in 1898 by the Newlands. It's a great location to shoot at because of its Victorian architecture, quaint barn and small water tower. The only problem is the museum shares its parking with a strip mall and if you're not careful you'll end up with parked cars in your shot! But, we made it work and I am super happy with what I got :) Here are some of my selects. Congrats Shawn & Meg!!

Krystal & Rodrigo Wedding

Hello friends! I know it's been a while since I've updated my blog. I just moved out of my parent's place {finally I know} so I've been a little backed up with my blogging. But, I'm all good & settled now & excited to show you what I've been doing for the past couple months.

I assisted Kate Connolly with the 2nd Photography for Krystal & Rodrigo's Wedding. Their ceremony was at Sacred Heart {a Catholic church}. Typically, photographers aren't too keen on Catholic churches because of all the restrictions they place on photography, {i.e. no flash, you can't move around as much, etc.} but I like having a whole hour to shoot the ceremony. You get more shots and I've always found Catholic churches & ceremonies to be quite beautiful.

Well, after the ceremony we were off to Puddingstone Hot Tub Resort. The resort was outdoors overlooking the the Puddingstone Reservoir which made for a beautiful setting {in my last pic}. I was also super stoked to see a Mariachi Band because I've never photographed one! They were amaaazzing... & so was the rest of the evening :)

I was introduced to Anna & Nick through Kate Connolly. When I met with them, I was surprised to learn that Anna had planned her entire wedding in {3} weeks! That must be some sort of record! I met up with Kate Connolly at the Westlake Village Inn for Stephanie and Sean's wedding ceremony & reception. Kate usually photographs the bride & women getting ready while I hang out with the groom and the guys {they were such fun to photograph}. At one point Sean starting playing the piano and singing!

Stephanie was equally awesome to photograph. She had the biggest most beautiful smile. Kate & I kept talking about how photogenic she is. Congrats to the happy couple.

August was thee month for weddings. I helped photographed {5} weddings so I've been behind with my blogging!

Allison & Darren's wedding ceremony and reception were held at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was my first time working with Kate Connolly {LA/New York Photographer} and she is awesome!...& super easy to work with. I was also very impressed with her photo booth. She had a printer & laptop setup so the guests could take their pictures home. Fun stuff!

Four Seasons Event

About a month ago I was recruited by William Innes to shoot the third day of a three day event at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village. He already booked a wedding for that day, so he had me fill in for him. I was super excited to photograph the all white affair. There were human statues, a beauty bar (where the women could get their makeup, hair & eyelashes done!), and lots of scrumptious appetizers made by some very talented chefs. All I can say is that Linda Pitelli of Eventful Designing knows how to throw an amazing & classy party.

Fish Hatchery & Meditation Mount

Steph surprised me for my b*day by taking me to the Fish Hatchery in Fillmore & Meditation Mount in Ojai. We stopped at Margaret's Cocina for lunch, did some wine tasting at the local winery and ventured on the 126 towards our destination.

Apparently, Meditation Mountain is exactly what it sounds like...a place to meditate. There are trails for hiking, an oasis style garden, and many benches to just sit and take in the beautiful landscape. And thank goodness for those benches because it was really hot that day (like 100 degrees!) But, it was totally worth it :) Thanks Steph!

After our stay in Sacramento, we were off to San Fran! I haven't been there in years, so I was super excited for our trip. We stayed for only a couple days, but we made sure to do a buncha stuff {& eat a buncha stuff!} Some of my favorite memories were going to Ghirardelli's @ night via cable car & walking the Golden Gate Bridge. Oh & the Aquarium was pretty spiffy too!

Last Day in Sacramento

On our last day in Sacramento, we hung out at the house while Jeremy BBQ'd us some ribs & corn. It was sooo good, I actually miss it sometimes :) I also forgot how much I like eating without utensils. I guess that's why Medieval Times is so fun.

It was also a bummer having to say bye to the fam. Here is Miss Laila being her cute little self.

Lake Tahoe

On our second day in Sacramento, we decided to venture off to Lake Tahoe! After having a yummy fish & chips lunch we took a beautiful drive along pine trees & blue skies. The weather was about 20 degrees cooler, the air was fresher, and it actually rained for a bit!

Old Town Sacramento & Our State Capitol Building

I went to Sacramento & San Francisco a couple weeks ago with Jason to visit his bro, sis-in-law & niece. We stayed at their home for the weekend and had great time sightseeing, playing with his niece and just hanging out. The first day we took a stroll through Old Town Sacramento. It was really hot, so we didn't stay long. But there were a lot of fun shops (including a Peruvian Craft store)! Afterwards, we went to the capitol building where we saw the Governator!

I was introduced to Chrissy & Tim through my friend Brittany. Brittany had planned on photographing Chrissy's wedding but was also was a bridesmaid! So, she called me up and asked me to be the principal photographer. I also had my friend Alyssa (another fellow photog) assist me with the photography.

Here are some of my favorites from the day! My favorite moment was probably seeing Chrissy & Tim run down the aisle of sparklers for their send off. How fitting for the 4th of July! Congratulations you two!

My Wedding Photography Website is up and running! It was created via Lightroom & I'm pretty happy with the templates that Lightroom offers (hopefully more templates will be offered in 3.0...so hurry up Adobe!)

Jennifer & Alvin

Jennifer & Alvin were married on June 6, 2009 at the Tournament Player's Club in Stevenson's Ranch. I've never been to TPC and it's really pretty! Oh and I got to see my friend Gina from high school who I forgot worked there. It was nice seeing a familiar face :) Anywho, William Innes, Talla & I got some great shots especially with the lovely weather! (we love it when it's not sunny & a little outcast)

Ashley & Brandon

William Innes & I had a fabulous time photographing Brandon & Ashley's wedding last weekend. They had a beautiful ceremony at the Hyatt in Valencia and then we were off to the Bridgeport Clubhouse for the reception.

Ashley looked stunning in her dress, a vintage inspired veil and feather adorned shoes (which she made). Their wedding was a wonderful mix of the old and new. From Ashley's 1920's inspired look to the tables that were named after Disneyland attractions. My favorite part was when all their guests made a circle around the newlyweds and sang "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Everyone, included Brandon and Ashley were singing at the top of their lungs and you could just feel the love!

Today is a good day. My grandmother is starting to look like her old self. She was very ill last month (hospitalized and the whole bit), but I think it's safe to say that she has made a full recovery. It was fun to just hang out in our backyard and take some candids.

Yep, that's my girl, Gabby. She's getting older now (14 yrs), so I wanted to take some more formal pictures of her. Typically she doesn't like to stand still and pose for pictures (not many animals do), so I put her on a high stool which proved to be a handy lil' trick.

Their wedding and reception was held at Robinson's Ranch Golf Course in Canyon Country. and I've always wanted to photograph there because the vistas surrounding the golf course are gorgeous. Everything about their wedding was gorgeous and so classy that I found myself saying "wow" a lot. Chris & Jessica's wedding was at the Ebell Club in Long Beach. I fell in love with the architecture & chandeliers at this place. The light that entered the building just radiated off the white walls making everything glow!

It was also refreshing to see so many creative elements in Chris & Jessica's wedding. They had polaroid cameras and film for their guests to snap pics...they designed their own coloring book as wedding favors...and their love story was projected on a screen during the reception. They also insisted that we the photographers be as creative as possible which inspired me to use my Lens Baby 3G...yay! Jen even shot film! Check out Jen's blog to see her picks from the wedding.

So the big day is approaching! My 3 years at Art Center College of Design is finally coming to an end. I've come a long way since the first time I discovered my love for photography in high school. Seeing my first black and white image slowly appear in the developer gave me butterflies and I was hooked! Now 10 years later I can look back and truly be thankful for the journey that led me to this place.

Hidy Ho! So, I got a blogspot because the blog interface for Myspace isn't pretty. It's ugly & for that reason I never post anything or check anyone's blog. Well, I will kick off my new blog with my mini trip to Carpinteria. I had a fabulous time. The weather was nice and cool (compared to the 100 degree heat that I'm used to). Also, the great thing about cities along the coast is that you have such a spectacular view of the Pacific, that rush hour traffic doesn't phase you. I was happy as a clam :)
